We celebrated some great accomplishments during this month's School Board meeting.
Kem January and Bonnie Barnes gave board members an inside look at the STEM and Gifted and Talented department. They team up to give students hands-on experiences both during the school day and after school at Pirate Camp. Some of the projects students have been involved in are building with specific materials (to hold weight or other challenges), robotics, water purification, compass tasks and more!
Five high school students started a mission together this year, stayed the course and received their Seal of Biliteracy Certificates. This means they are proficient in two languages and they passed a comprehensive exam in order to be recognized for what is an impressive accomplishment. The Seal of Biliteracy is evidence of skills that are highly attractive to employers and colleges. Amber O'Neal guided the group throughout the process and did a fantastic job.
Amanda Creamer, College and Career Coach, and Jerrie Price presented some of the many exposures our students are experiencing this year via job shadowing, internships, career seminars and group visits to various workplaces in the area. Check out the H.I.R.E.D. Newsletter here ~ https://5il.co/1nlz2 The newsletter features some of our pirates!
The Greenland Board of Education was celebrated for School Board Member Appreciation Month. Each member will be featured in the coming days!

Some of our high school students visited Rush Trucking to tour the body shop, sales floor, paint booth, and service department while hearing about careers in each area. We love local companies inviting us in to give students exposure to all types of careers. Give us a call if your company would like to partner with us! #Gr8Day2BaPirate
