Greenland School District presents Pi Night on March 14th! We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a STEAM museum on wheels. They will come to our school and set up STEAM activities for our students during the school day 8:00 am - 3:00 pm as well as for our families from 4:30pm - 7:30pm in the Elementary Gym. We would LOVE to have you come out and join in on all the fun activities that will be set up throughout the Elementary Gym. There will be FREE pizza and a Silent Pie Auction there as well! We are asking for volunteers to help us run some of the activities, hand out food, and/or help us host a pie auction by donating money or purchasing store bought pie's! Hello my name is Justin Bramall. I have been teaching agriculture at Greenland High School for 6 years now, I have been teaching 9 years total. My favorite part about teaching ag is that it is the industry that holds the role of sourcing the essentials in life - food, shelter, clothing. Whether people understand or like to admit it, agriculture, the food and fiber industry, is incredibly important for everyone. When thinking specifically about ag education and FFA, there’s no other career I’d see myself in. Getting to help teach and mold the next generation of people who will be the leaders in our community, state and nation is a big responsibility but equally rewarding. Ag classes bring learning and experience together perfectly, teaching kids the fundamentals of many areas such as livestock, plants, mechanics, wood working, welding, business, leadership and more and giving a hands-on approach to each component. You’ll often find my classes in the shop, greenhouse, working with livestock, talking to businesses in the community or teaching younger kids about ag because having students doing more than sitting at their desk listening to me talk gets them excited, impacts better learning and sparks interests they didn’t know they had. FFA is the cherry on top of bringing these experiences to life and also giving a sense of community through all the networking opportunities. Any student in an ag class can be a part of FFA. We are active in leadership and career development events that offer students opportunities to compete in public speaking, popular agriculture issue discussions, evaluate livestock and poultry, sharpen mechanic skills and more. We attend state and national convention where students grow through leadership and professional development, meet other students, talk to colleges and businesses about their next steps out of high school. We are involved in community service activities giving back to our school and community through hard work, fundraising, etc. We have a great group of kids who show livestock and learn responsibility in caring for their animals, they learn to work hard, practice and perform under pressure and have a lot of fun. FFA isn’t just something that looks good on a resume, it’s good for growth, getting your feet wet and finding what part of the vast ag industry is right for you. The best part, there’s a place for everyone, you don’t have to be the best in music, sports or anything else, with so many opportunities to shine through SAE projects, judging, leadership roles, etc., there really is something for everyone. #Gr8Day2BaPirate #CTEmonth

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is conducting a needs assessment to better understand the unmet behavioral and mental health needs of students in Arkansas (ages 12 and older). Through surveys and focus groups, we hope to learn more about current barriers to accessing care from all the stakeholder, most importantly that of families and students themselves. https://base.uams.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=WJ4TDA8X3T8XTTRM
